French fashion house Lanvin, has announced 31-year old fashion designer Bruno Sialelli, as its new creative director.
Sialelli, who has a past record with notable fashion brands such as Acne Studios, Paco, Balenciaga and recently discharged from Loewe, will be shouldered with unifying Lanvin’s menswear and womenswear divisions, as planned by its parent company Fosun, a Chinese-owned company.
On the reason why the house went in for Sialelli as against other designer giants, Lavin’s chief executive Jean-Philippe Hecquet, described him as someone with the ability of building a strong creative team. (Knowing its dysfunction in terms of management), he commented, “Sialelli’s singular and very personal vision, his audacity, his culture, his energy and ability to build a strong creative team definitely convinced us.”
Following the history of Lanvin’s change of creative director four times within the space of four years, Sialelli obviously has a big hole to fill, knowing the efforts past creative directors have put in place. Speaking of his new appointment, Sialelli shared, “I am delighted and honoured to join Lanvin, a house founded by a visionary woman, who among the first French couturiers, dared to offer a global universe with a very wide field of expression. Bringing emotions through compelling stories and defining a modern attitude are going to be exciting challenges in continuing this legacy.”
Lanvin has suffered a four-season exit of creative directors after Albert Elbaz removal in 2015. Sialleli is next in line to helm over its affairs and patrons of the brand are hopeful of a long stay for the French designer.
