The 3rd edition of the annual Black Star International Film Festival is set to kick-off from August 11-18, 2018. The week-long event will consist of daily film screenings from the African soil, panel sessions and workshops, an open Air Cinema, a music concert among others.
The Festival aims at creating connections through film as well as bridging the gap between African cinema and the world. Speaking about the motives underlining the BSIFF, Founding President, Juliet Asante disclosed, “Ghana is a critical voice in the region. We continue to impact the industry in very interesting ways. The Festival will serve as a rallying point to connect the dots.”
First Lady of Ghana, Mrs Rebecca Akufo Addo was recently unveiled as Patron and the event has consistently attracted high profile stakeholders from the country and beyond; including award-winning actors like Zynell Zuh, Nana Ama McBrown, Adjetey Anang and more.
The open ceremony will be packed on the 11th with a film screening as well as an introduction from festival founder, producer and attending dignitaries. 32 films from 19 countries across 6 categories including feature films, documentaries, short films and more will be showcased throughout the one-week scheduled event.
