There is a new challenge on the block: Meet the: #MetGalaChallenge, created by show-stopper Billy Porter and American Vogue to relive on social media some of the most iconic costumes to have ever hit the Met Gala red-carpet.
Explained on Instagram by Vogue, The task is simple: recreate your favourite red carpet look from a past Met Gala at home. Which ensemble you replicate, and what you use to make it, is entirely up to you — think outside of the box.”
Interested participants would have to post a photo of themselves in a red carpet look recreated from the met Gala archives using the hashtag #MetGalaChallenge. At the end of the challenge, Billy together with American Vogue will select winners of the challenge whose names will be unveiled on May 4 in a post on Vogue.com and a selection will also be posted to the official @voguemagazine Instagram page.
The biggest night on the fashion calendar was axed from its original date, May 4 to a yet-to-be-announced date due to the coronavirus pandemic. The MET has over the years seen high fashion display from the most acclaimed top stars in the world.
For options to take part in the challenge, you can look back at Rihanna’s Guo Pei yellow gown for ‘China Through The Looking Glass’ in 2015, Kim Kardashian’s Ocean soaked nude dress for ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ 2019 and the unforgettable Billy Porter ‘Sun God’ ensemble last year.
The challenge runs from now through to May 3.
