It’s the end of an era for ‘Avatar’ and the beginning for Marvel Studio’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’. The latter has shattered the former to become the top-grossed film of all time in worldwide box office.
Last Friday marked the beginning of Endgame’s race into becoming the highest grossed film ever as it stood at a record of $2.7892 billion, a $500,000 space gab behind ‘Avatar’s’ $2.7897 billion. Snatching the bragging rights in full speed, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ totaled an overall amount of $2.790 billion on Sunday, leaving behind ‘Avatar’ with its of $2.7897 billion record held for a decade.
Celebrating the admirable milestone of the film, Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Allan Horn said in a statement, “A huge congratulations to the Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios teams, and thank you to the fans around the world who lifted ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to these historic heights.”
Aside the worldwide smashing record accomplished a day ago, ‘Avengers’ still holds on record as the biggest global opening of all time with $1.22 billion, including an all-time high of $357.1 million domestically and $866.5 million overseas.
‘Endgame’s’ total stands at $853.4 million domestically and $1.9358 billion internationally.
