At the MET Gala this year, Zendaya walked the red carpet in a Tommy Hilfiger recreation of Cinderella's legendary gown. As beautiful as the balling gown was on its own, the actress together with her fashion team led by stylist Law Roach, accessorized it with a glow of electric light made evident by a tap of wand owned by Roach.
International fashion media outlets who graced the star-studded event made sure to capture her elegance, which came along with the dress. One disturbing aspect that both show audience and camera holders didn't know was that the mannequin (Zendaya) was actually not comfortable with all the wires controlling the dress' lightning, despite coming out with some of the best post-gala photos.
In a close-up interview with Vogue, Zendaya explained, "The dress was like a science project. It was animatronic, and there were literally two people in the stands moving it with remote controls. I had no idea that it was going to heat up because there were so many batteries and wires in it. It got really hot-like I was a little bit scared-and I just said, 'I should probably get this off before I roast."
The 22-year-old actress, since her rise to fame has caused mixed reactions from critics whenever she is in the news for either of her fashion or movie choices. Presently promoting her starred in movie 'Spider-Man: Far From Home', the other buzzing drama to her credit 'Euphoria' is also settling well with her after anxieties took over before its release, "I fell asleep on London time with lots of anxiety about it coming out at home, but then I woke up to a text being like, 'It's all good.' I'm glad it's being received the way it is," said Zendaya.
In 'Euphoria', Zendaya stars as narrator Rue, a bipolar 17-year-old who's fresh out of rehab. The story line together with her acting out was well coordinated to deliver a clear message. "The target demographic for this series is really adults, especially parents. So I hope it opens up a dialogue about processing trauma and having a bit more empathy for young people," Zendaya hopes.
