Grown-ish star actress Yara Shahidi has been named ambassador for the 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG). Shahidi joins Crazy Rich Asians actor Harry Shum Jr. as SAG awards ambassadors. In dispensing her role as ambassador, Shahidi will join forces with Shum Jr. to offer behind the scenes looks at efforts leading up to the ceremony through their social media handles and preshow events. Not the first time to get her name associated with the event as she has previously served as a nominee alongside her co-cast members for the comedy hit series Black-ish. Olivia Colman, Emily Blunt, Lady Gaga, Melissa McCarthy and recent Golden Globes winner Glenn Close are up for the female lead actor performance recognition, whiles Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Rami Malek, Viggo Mortensen and John David Washington are also up for the male actor lead performance title this year. The awards will be handed out on Sunday, January 27 at the Shrine auditorium in Los Angeles, California, hosted by Megan Mullally.
