Streaming giant Netflix, is set to hike up the prices for their subscription plans.
With effect, their basic plan will move from $8 to $9. Standard plan, which allows subscribers to stream movies and TV shows in high definition from two different screens at the same time, increases from $11 to $13 and the premium plan, where subscribers can stream content in high definition and ultra-high definition on four different screens, will also bump up from $14 to $16.
The change in their subscription plans comes after the platform was cut off from a $100m multi-year deal with Black-ish showrunner Kenya Barris. Following the protests by the 90s sitcom series 'Friends' lovers, the platform is reported to have dropped $100m to continue its showing on the platform.
According to Wall Street Journal, new customers joining Netflix will be hit with the new prices now, while existing subscribers will see the increase reflected in the next few months.
Netflix, has been the parent production house of countless teenage, love movies and also fiction drama series such as Stranger Things, which returns with season 3, on July 4, this year.
