Just when we thought Reese Witherspoon's rom-com character comeback will feature two of Netflix developing films 'Your Place or Mine' and 'The Cactus', it has been announced that the actress is returning to play her famous Elle Woods character in the third installment of 'Legally Blonde'. The Oscar winner will co-produce the film under her production banner Hello Sunshine. Legally approved writers scripting the project are Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor, who both recently worked on the Universal Indian centered wedding show starring Priyanka Chopra. Kaling tweeted with excitement yesterday, "Elle Woods is so iconic, proving you can be girly and smart at the same time. Bend and snap people!" Not much details about the plot for the third installment is known. The storyline will however take a new spin as the writers are developing a new version from scratch. Looking at the ending of part 2 which had Elle aiming the White House, the third installment is sure going to tackle the political life of Elle over the past 17 years. Hello Sunshine's head of Film and Television Lauren Neustadter is also producing alongside Adam Siegel, President of Platt Productions. The first two parts of 'Legally Blonde' amassed a total of $267M at the WW box office. The movies also spawned a 2007 Broadway musical which scored seven Tony nominations and ten Drama Desk nominations.
