'Silver Rain' film producer and 2018 Ghana Women of the Year Honouree for Excellence in Film, Juliet Asante, has announced she is all set to embark on a peace walk against political vigilantism amidst recent political disorders coming from the camps of NPP and NDC, regarded as the two stronghold political parties in the country.
Juliet, who disclosed she has been a witness and experienced war in past years with her family told citinewsroom.com in an interview that she is concerned with the latest happenings amounting to her reason for the campaign. She said, "As a Ghanaian, I'm very concerned about what's going on in the country with the private militia and I'm very afraid for what could potentially happen. My family has experienced war before so I think I'm uniquely qualified to draw the attention of Ghanaians to the potential pitfalls of the direction we are headed."
She further made it clear that she chose to embark on the peace walk all by herself because she believes in the power of one voice and urged the general public not to wait for a second party before making a move to clarify something of emergency.
The Black Star International Film Festival Executive Director is however not disputing a walk together with other people if they choose to join her freely. She chimed, "If anyone wants to join me, I won’t stop them. I am also not waiting for anyone. I feel that if I raise my voice in an organised way, whoever needs to listen would listen."
Juliet will start her walk from the African Regent Hotel through to Parliament House come February 26.
