‘Call Me by Your Name’ star Armie Hammer is joining the ‘The Offer’ limited series franchise.
Scheduled to stream on Paramount Plus in 2021, ‘The Offer’ is a behind-the-scenes look at Al Ruddy’s experiences on the set of the 1970 crime thriller ‘The Godfather’, which he produced. Hammer will star as Ruddy. Michael Tolkin is writing and executive producing alongside Ruddy, Nikki Toscano and Leslie Grief. Paramount Television Studios is producing the 10-episode limited series.
‘The Offer’ will be Hammer’s first regular starring role in a television series. In past years, he has made appearances in TV shows such as ‘Gossip Girl’, ‘Reaper’ and ‘American Dad’. He recently played Maxim DeWinter in Netflix’s romance/mystery film ‘Rebecca’. His next cinemas appearance will be in ‘Death on the Nile’, a film series distributed by 20th Century Studios.
Paramount Plus is a rebranded platform of ViacomCBS streaming service CBS All Access. It is set to launch in 2021 with fresh and existing library shows from BET, MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. Variety envisions the streaming platform to house over 30,000 episodes and films once it makes its debut next year.
“Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling. With Paramount Plus, we’re excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy,” ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish said announcing Paramount Plus in September.
