Ariana Grande is following in the footsteps of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn in her new role as the face of iconic French design house Givenchy.
The brand teased the partnership on its Instagram feed last week in black-and-white videos that hid the pop star’s face. Still, thanks to her trademark high ponytail and recognizable voice, fans quickly pieced together Grande’s new gig.
Grande confirmed the news on her own Instagram feed. “I don’t have words to describe how much this partnership means to me,” she wrote. “Such an incredible honor and with a brand I love sooooo much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I’m so excited for all things ahead.”
The simple campaign videos are an understated nod to the brand’s decades of sophistication — with the exception of one standout detail. According to Refinery29, the videos make a point to show Grande’s neck tattoo. The French script across the back of her neck reads mille trendresses, which translates to “a thousand tendernesses.” (Grande’s ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson also had the phrase inked on his neck, although it’s now covered by a tattoo that reads “cursed.”) “A thousand tendernesses” is from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the classic film that stars former Givenchy muse, Audrey Hepburn.
