Ansel Elgort to star in ‘Tokyo Vice’ series for WarnerMedia’s streaming service

‘Baby Driver’ star actor, Ansel Elgort, is set to make his series feature debut with WarnerMedia’s ‘Tokyo Vice’, a 10-episode straight-to-series pickup.

The series is based on Jake Adelstein’s non-fiction book ‘Tokyo Vice’, which gives a first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat. Elgort will take up the role of Jake Adelstein, an American journalist who embeds himself into the Tokyo Vice police squad to reveal corruption. The series will chronicle Jake’s daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo, where nothing and no one is truly what he or who they seem.

John Lesher, Emily Gerson Saines and Elgort will executive produce the series. Tony Award winning playwright, J. T. Rogers will pen down the series adaptation, which will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Endeavor Content is serving as the studio for the production.

‘Tokyo Vice’ forms part of WarnerMedia’s recent attempt in creating more original programming for its streaming platform. Other original content coming on the platform include; ‘Love Life’ starring Anna Kendrick and Paul Feig.

Elgort is repped by CAA, Brookside Artist Management and Morris Yorn.
