Academy award winning actress Anne Hathaway, will set in the shoes of Anjelica Huston for the remake of the 1990 film ‘The Witches’.
The film, which is based on Roald Dahl’s book titled ‘The Witches’, follows a boy who stumbles upon a coven of child-hating witches he must stop even though he has been turned into a mouse. The film, yet to start production under Warner Bros. flagship, will be scripted and directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Oscar winners Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuaron.
In a recent interview with French outlet Allocine, Zemeckis revealed his adaptation will be an American period piece. He said, “We’re going to set in the Gothic South in the 1960s. It’s an exciting way to put a sociological spin on this kind of witch story.” Zemeckis also shared that his direction with the script of the film will be rooted mostly from the original version of the story line than the 1990 adaptation.
Hathaway, who won her first Oscars in 2013 will next be seen in the thriller ‘Serenity’ opposite Matthew McConaughey. She is repped by CAA and Sloane offer.
