The 2019 International Broadcasting Convention awards ceremony (IBC) will end with Andy Serkis walking home as recipient of the International Honor of Excellence.
Serkis is best known for featuring in projects told around animations and computer-generated characters. His works encompasses an enviable folder of shuttering cinema recorded films ranging from; ‘Planet of the Apes’, ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’, ‘King Kong’ and the ‘The Lord of the Rings’.
IBC CEO Michael Crimp, shared about Serkis honorary merit, “The International Honor of Excellence has a long history of rewarding those who have transformed our creative vision. Andy Serkis has achieved this by bringing extraordinary humanity to computer-generated characters.”
Serkis also lauded the honor of receiving the title saying, “I feel incredibly honored to have been chosen as the recipient of this prestigious IBC Award. In turn, I must share my appreciation with the phenomenal legion of creative artists, visionaries and pioneers that I’ve been lucky enough to dance with on this journey of next generation storytelling.”
The event is scheduled to take place on September 15 in Amsterdam. James Cameron, Peter Jackson, Ang Lee and Jeffrey Katzenberg, have all in past years received the Honor of Excellence award.
In other news related to Serkis, the director is on the shortlist of potential directors to the direct ‘Venom’s’ untitled sequel. He competes against Travis Knight and Rupert Wyatt.
