Legendary highlife artiste, Amakye Dede has received the key to the city of Worcester Massachusetts.
The key was presented to Amakye Dede by the mayor of Worcester Massachusetts, Joseph M. Petty on Sunday during the highlife artiste’s performance at his ‘Amakye Dede US Tour’. Amakye gained this recognition as a result of his contribution and excellence in the creative arts industry.
Amakye joins the likes of Ghanaian celebrities in music and movies that have already been given a key to the city which include, Shatta Wale, Okyeame Kwame and Abraham Attah. The tour which commenced on August 12, is expected to have Amakye Dede together with his Apollo High Kings Band thrill Ghanaian and US music fans with world class performances in over 10 cities in America.
Amakye Dede began his music journey in 1973 when he joined the Kumapim Royals as a composer and vocalist. He is well known for his versatile stage craft performances and unique vocal tune that always draw lovers of the old school kind of music back on the dancing floor.
