A cover girl and a performer, Alicia Keys is ushering September in style. The multiple Grammy award winning artist has been tapped to perform at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons Party, set to take place at the Plaza Hotel.
Alicia, whose beautiful face graces Bazaar’s September issue will show off her vocal chops in the presence of some of the biggest names in entertainment and fashion at the annual event. The party is a precedent event, which has been programmed to kick-start New York Fashion Week for the past six years.
Other notable celebrities coming in for the party as a result of their featured names in the Icons Portfolio assembled by Bazaar’s global fashion director Carine Roitfeld include; Celine Dion, Awkwafina, Christy Turlington, Regina King, Shailene Woodley, Lakeith Stanfield, Kate Moss, Alek Wek and Devon Aoki.
“I am excited to once again bring Harper’s Bazaar editors from around the world together to kick off New York Fashion Week and celebrate the 10 cultural forces that make up this year’s Icons portfolio. I am especially honored that the truly iconic Alicia Keys will be delivering this year’s special performance, which promises to be as inspirational and show stopping as the artist herself,” said Roitfeld in a statement.
The past years have had some music heavy weights such as; The Weekend, Katy Perry, Kanye West among others mount the stage to perform.
September apparently will be a busy month for Keys as is also scheduled to headline the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park on September 28, alongside Queen, Adam Lambert and Pharrell Williams. Leading to both the Harper’s Bazaar and Global Citizen performance, Keys will first make a musical stop on September 3 at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena for a performance and speech presentation to empower people to be their authentic selves.
