Award-winning actress/producer, Akorfa Edjeani Asiedu, has received a citation of honor by Helping Hands International (H2i) for her contribution towards building a meaningful society and also influencing lives positively through movies.
The celebrated actress received the accolades with words inked on the citation, which represents what she stands for in the showbiz industry, “You are a woman worth celebrating and emulating and we want to acknowledge you for your numerous contributions not only through the significant roles you play on screen but also your contributions to the lives around you. Thank you for the substance you add to womanhood and for empowering both men and women to be the best they can be.”
Akorfa, doubles as one of the pioneers in the Ghana movie industry to have sought a breakthrough for the industry in the 90s and early 2000s. Making her acting debut in 1987, Akorfa has starred in over 50 films and continues to add to her tally, as she remains one of the key players in the movie industry.
Her most notable movies of all time include; My Mother’s Heart, I sing of a well (Best Jury award at African Movie Awards in 2010, plus three others), The Cursed Ones, Gold Coast, Ultimate Paradise, Not My Daughter (Best Short film at African Movie Academy Awards in 2008), among several others.
Young actor, Strika, of the 2015 award winning movie Beast of No Nation, was also rewarded for his performance in the international recognized film.
