The 90s led female singing group Spice Girls, are teaming up with Paramount Animation for an animated movie classic. Paramount Animation president Mirelle Soria, confirms that all five ladies making up the group are up for the movie. “The Spice Girls had an idea that we’ve been developing. They are very much involved,” Mirelle disclosed.
The film is yet-to-be awarded with a title, but is set for a 2020 release date. The animated feature will include Spice Girls classics as well as new songs produced by the girls’ band. Karen McCullah and Kiwi Smith are writing the script, with Simon Fuller producing.
Currently, all members of the girls’ band with the exception of Victoria Beckham, are running a Spice Girls’ sold-out reunion tour, which begins tonight at London’s Wembley Stadium for three nights, performing, ‘Wannabe’, ‘Spice Up Your Life’, ‘Stop’ and many others of their hit songs.
The group recently disclosed their comeback to stage performances and their adapted agenda of embracing inclusivity, every way possible. “This band, the Spice Girls, belongs to everyone. Not just five girls, it belongs to eight billion people, and everyone is welcome. At the start of our show, our screens say, ‘We welcome all ages, all races, all gender identities, all countries of origin, all sexual orientations, all religions and beliefs, and all abilities. That is the message of the band and what we represent,” said the group.
The last featured film of the group amassed over $100 million globally, and it is with high hopes at Paramount that the upcoming animated project will perform well when released for the fans and public.
