Brace yourselves, a ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot is about happening, HBO Max has announced.
The ordered-to-go-into-production 10 episodes will have on its cast list a new set of trust fund babies-delinquents experimenting on how much social media and the landscape of New York itself has changed in the intervening years. No word as to whether the original cast of the show which starred Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford will make an appearance in the reboot version.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are returning as executive producers alongside ‘Gossip Girl’ alum Joshua Safran coming in as head writer. Originally aired on CW, the reboot takes a different turn with HBO Max securing the streaming rights over the series in 2020. Production start dates and unveiling of new cast members will be announced soon.
