Vogue cover girl Adesua Etomi, affectionately called Mrs. Wellington, has being activated into a female superhero character by starring in the upcoming animated series ‘Malika: Warrior Queen’.
Written and directed by Roye Okupe, ‘Malika: Warrior Queen’ is set in 15th century West Africa and narrates the exploits of queen and military commander Malika (Adesua), who struggles to keep the peace in her ever-expanding empire Azzaz. With several internal and external oppositions coming her way, Malika has stand up and defend her people against enemies who have set their sights on seizing the empire.
The animated series also cast Blossom Chukwujekwu (Abdul, the right hand man to queen Malika and Chief advisor), Femi Branch (Chief Dogbari, one of the council chiefs in the kingdom of Azzaz and a thorn in Malika’s flesh), Sambasa Nzeribe (General Ras, a rebel leader in Azzaz) and Deyemi Okanlowon (Bass Kazaar, the king of Atala).
Executive produced by Niyi Akinmolayan of Anthill Studios, the series will be presented at the 8th annual Lagos Comic Convention on September 21 and later screen at the 6th annual MECCAcon International Film Festival in Detroit, Michigan on the same day.
Adesua, who has a large catalog of A-list Nollywood films at her credit, stars next in the August 9 to-be-released film ‘The Set Up’ alongside Dakore Egbuson Akande, Jim Iyke and legendary Joke Silva.
