In today’s society, getting ready for a job interview can be really stressful and hectic in terms of what to wear. Countless hours are spent flipping through dresses and trying on shoes upon shoes just to get the perfect combination to work the magic when you make a step at the office holding the interview. This pretty much has become the part we give much attention to when we are preparing for a job interview, foregoing our skills and personality.
This week’s episode on ‘Go Ask Anna’, a Vogue magazine weekly episode that gives answers to pressing questions by the public within the fashion and style industry had the editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, take a dig inside ‘What to wear for a job interview’.
The iconic fashion CEO, who has been in the industry for decades disclosed, “So interesting to me how people dress when they come in for interviews and sometimes you feel they are wearing clothes they just bought that morning or may be the night before and not something that in any way suits their personality or what they are. What everybody should know is whether they are interviewing at Vogue or anywhere else is, we are not hiring your wardrobe. Your wardrobe is not gonna be doing your job for you. It’s who you are.”
To give credit to her ways of giving a job for a qualified person at Vogue, Anna recalled a gentleman she once offered a job to without the extra fashion accessories. She said, “I will always remember a young man who came in a dress and a hand bag and I gave the job to him on the spot. You have to dress for yourself and is the same for any job that you might be going for. I think it doesn’t do yourself a service if you fake it.”
In the opening part of the answering of questions video, Anna talked of her great admiration of the Kardashians, with much of the applause given to Kim, who she believes is a little bit more covered in clothes now. Anna disclosed, “Kim of all of them has possibly changed the most. I personally admire the way that she has become a little more minimal in the way that she dressing, a little bit more covered.”
Per Anna’s intelligence, Kris Jenner (mother of the Kardashian’s) is a ‘genius’, “You have to admire how they have created an empire obviously through their personalities and the creative genius of their mother.”
When asked by one questionnaire what she thinks about leggings, she commented on it as something which started in the 80s and best worn in black, of which she believes will probably find its way back in the next 20 years to come. She also noted that fashion should be able to cross boundaries regardless of one’s sex and make way for everybody to follow the path that they choose to wear.
