There is a new Instagram queen on the blog, Ariana Grande! The Thank U, Next singer just surpassed Selena Gomez into becoming the most followed female on the visual sharing up. Christiano Ronaldo still holds the title as the most followed in the world ‘155,000,000’.
Monday came in with Grande amassing a total 13 million plus followers on the app (a feat she attained within the last four months) enabling her to score 146,286,173 followers as against Gomez’ 146,267,801 followers. Comparing her Instagram win slot to Gomez, it comes as a no surprise taking into consideration the attention Grande has generated from the public with record breakings on the side of her music and controversies surrounding her love life.
Gomez on the other hand, recently made a comeback on the app after her September last year, long hiatus to find time for herself privately and check into an inpatient facility to seek mental health treatment. Clearly, showing the many times one would visit a Gomez page and a Grande insane page flooded with fresh news for the feed always.
Reality stars Kim Kardashian West and Kylie Jenner, both follow at the third and fourth positions for most followed women respectively. Kim with 128m plus followers and Kylie at 127m plus followers. Pop-star Beyoncé also comes in fifth with a whooping 125m followers, while she follows no one on her following column.
Meanwhile in Ghana, we are good to say that our 2018 Glitz Style awards ‘Social Media Style Influencer’ nominee Jackie Appiah has 5m followers (more than the population of the capital Accra and Kumasi put together) making her the most followed Ghanaian celebrity on Instagram and higher than the Oscar winning actress Nicole Kidman, with 3.6m, on the international front.
