Fashion giant Karl Lagerfeld, has appointed renowned fashion editor Carine Roitfeld as his newest partner for all upcoming projects under his namesake brand. The announcement was made yesterday, January 31.
The partnership deal will kick start with the release of ‘The Edit by Carine Roitfeld’ in September, which will comprise essential pieces selected from the designer’s autumn/winter 2019 collection. The big announcement is of essential importance to the Lagerfeld brand, as the house recognizes Roitfeld as an “integral contributor to the Karl Lagerfeld brand.”
In a statement issued by Karl, he commented about his new partner, saying, “Roitfeld knows what she wants; she has a vision and she states her vision. She is actually what she seems to be; she matches her image, she fits in her universe, and she is a perfect match for KL.”
This is not the first time the duo are collaborating together for a masterpiece. In 2012, they both teamed-up to co-author the book, ‘The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s Classic Revisited.’ Knowing Lagerfeld unmatched legacy in fashion, Roitfeld credits him as an inventive and innovative person. The fashion editor said, “Lagerfeld is one of the smartest, most inventive and innovative people I have ever known. After all these years, Karl never calls me Carine, always Madame Roitfeld.”
Additional projects to be launched by the two, will be announced later this year. Meanwhile, the collection with Roitfeld will be sold in Karl Lagerfeld stores, Karl.com and with selected wholesale partners.
