Oscar winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o has been named as an honoree for the 2019 Hollywood walk of Fame . The announcement was made on Monday, June 25, 2018 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
The 2019 Hollywood walk of Fame honoree comprises 4 categories namely, film, television, recording and live theatre/live performance. Notable names in the film category include, For Better for Worse producer and creator, Tyler Perry, Oceans 8 star actress, Anne Hathaway and Oscar winning director, Guillermo del Toro. Gena Rowland, Kristen Bell, Daniel Craig, Robert De Niro and Alan Arkin all form part of the film honorees.
10 honorees have been named for the television category which include, Mandy Moore and Guy Fieri. Michel Bublé and Jackie Wilson are among the many in the recording group category. For the live theatre/live performance category Idina Menzel, Cedric the Entertainer, Judith Light and Paul Sorvino will be recognized.
Vin Di Bona, chair of the Walk of Fame selection committee this year, together with Leron Gubler, President and CEO for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce as well as the emcee of the Walk of Fame ceremonies revealed the honorees this year.
“The Committee always tries to select a group of talented honorees that appeal in various genres of the entertainment world. I feel the Committee has outdone themselves and I know the fans, tourists and the Hollywood community will be pleased with our selections. We are excited to see each and every honoree’s face as they unveil that majestic star on Hollywood’s most famous walkway,” said Di Bona.
Lupita Nyong’o scored her first Oscar nomination and win in 2014 for a performance by a supporting actress in the Best Picture nominated movie ‘Twelve Years a Slave”. The Kenyan-Mexican actress has since then made consistent waves in Hollywood and not only proven to be one of the best actresses of our time, but also a style icon as she has over the years graced every red carpet she has walked on in style.
However, dates have not yet been scheduled for the star ceremonies.
