American based Ghanaian born, Bozoma Saint John has left Uber to take a CMO role at Endeavor.
Her resignation comes in a year after her appointment as the first ever female Uber Chief Brand officer in 2017. Bozoma joined Uber in the wake of controversies against the company for sexual harassment and having a chaotic company culture by Susan Fowler, former female engineer for Uber, which led to the resignation of former CEO, Travis Kalanick in June.
After her appointment as Chief Brand Officer, she told CBS news in an interview how she is very much aware of what she is walking into. She said, “Well, I’m not naïve about that all. And by the way, those things are very serious. Again it’s about trying to be the representation for what I want to see. You know, I want change”.
In her one year stay at Uber she has managed to create a nicer, more clean-cut image for the Uber brand, which has become sought after by many for their transportation.
Before joining Uber in 2017, Bozoma served as the Head of Global Consumer Marketing for Apple Music and iTunes. Her departure from the Uber band has not caused any negative working relationship between her and the company as Uber CEO, Dora Khasrowshahi in a statement via e-mail says,
“I want to thank Boz for her contributions over the last year. Boz joined the Uber at a time when the company was hurting-but her energy, optimism and creativity have been a key part of our ongoing turnaround. Endeavor is lucky to have her, and I’m excited to watch her work in her new role”.
Bozoma will now serve as CMO for the entertainment conglomerate company, Endeavor. She joins the company to focus on driving marketing efforts including, Endeavor Global marketing Clients and premium brands.
