Well known for his striking sense of fashion and most importantly, as the first Ghanaian Snapchat lens creator with a remarkable 400M+ views. It’s almost impossible to imagine Nana Mitch’s journey as a creative without his eccentric style – because the latter is an extension of the former.
“I always had this idea that you create what you stand for. When you see my work, you see my creativity. So, I always make sure that everything I put out there represents who I am. My art is intimate. That is the zeal and the power I put into my work’’, Nana Mitch told Okay Africa months ago. Whether it’s his choice of brightly colored coats, transparent handbags, straight-leg trousers to even oversized denim jeans, one thing is certain – Nana Mitch’s style speaks volumes of the aesthetic inventiveness locked inside of his brain; one he describes over the phone as “Africanism packaged in a contemporary sense’’.
But as much as we’d like to drool over him and his doppelgänger – Schardo Mitch’s wardrobe choices; which he alludes to as “emblematic”, there’s more to the Snapchat star than meets the eye. He’s a Lens Studio genius, suave influencer and content creator extraordinaire, all in one.
Born Padmond Annor, Nana Mitch describes Snapchat’s Lens Studio as the thrust behind his artistic potentialities, sharing in an interview with Elite PR back in March: “Once I discovered the app, I knew I was on to something’’. You see, back in 2020, during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic, Nana Mitch did something remarkable. He took it upon himself to help personalize Ghana’s Snapchat filter and lens experience – giving holidays, events and celebrations throughout the country a uniquely Ghanaian feel and before he knew it “Ahuofe” was a thing.
An instant hit, by all means, the filter hit a massive 1 million views in the space of three to four days, opening doors to a whole new world of opportunities for the now 24-year-old digital artist – one that has in two years connected him with some of West Africa’s hyper-famous folk – the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo being his most prestigious, next to a sea of both Ghanaian and Nigerian entertainers; like singer, Zlatan, actress, Eniola Badmus, social media sensation, Hajia4Real, fashion designer, Kokobykhloe, BBN 6 star, Dorathy Bachor and clothing store, Wodibenuah’s exhibition.
Beyond the world of Snapchat and his 100,000+ subscribers on the app lies another passion of Nana Mitch’s – perhaps his biggest yet, content creation. A film school graduate of the National Film and Television Institute of Ghana, you best believe Nana Mitch’s videography skills are off the charts, inspiring a wave of brand campaigns and content that has seen him work with Walz Travel, Sister Deborah, Berbiedoll, Liquorose, and none other than Don Jazzy. But that’s somewhat the tip of the iceberg. Nana Mitch’s leverage over production coupled with his status as an esteemed influencer has also seen him contribute to the success story of brands, securing ambassadorial deals with popular and luxury Ghanaian brands; Pizzaman Chickenman, Nickchels Skincare, SMS Properties and Ridge Condos.
Still riding high on the waves of his ambition, Nana Mitch doesn’t want to be remembered as just a lens creator but a creative giant whose impact can be felt across the globe.
