Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood have put across news of a close down amid coronavirus outbreak.
Disneyland announced yesterday in statement saying, “While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, after carefully reviewing the guidelines of the Governor of California’s executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, beginning the morning of March 14 through the end of the month.”
In wake of shutdown crisis from major companies and panic from the general public since the outburst of the virus, Universal Studios Hollywood prompted the media about the necessary arrangement management is putting place to ensure the safety of its staff and guests that pass through regularly.
Tom Schroder, spokesman of the studio disclosed, “We are in frequent contact with health officials, our own health experts and others in our industry and we are closely monitoring the situation. We are communicating with our team members and reinforcing our best practice health and hygiene procedures. We are also educating them on basic preventive measures.”
“In addition, we are reviewing and enhancing our already aggressive cleaning protocols. And for the comfort and convenience of our guests, we are increasing the number of hand-sanitizer units in our parks. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and be ready to act as needed,” he added.
Aside Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood closing their doors temporarily, Paramount Studio Tours and Sony Pictures Studio Tours have also suspended all studio tours as a precautionary measure to secure the health and safety of their guests.
Johns Hopkins University reports that so far, the virus has affected 127,863 people worldwide with 1,323 in the U.S. Over the course of the week, major Hollywood events, premieres and companies resulted to a close-down due to the coronavirus outbreak effect.
