HBO Max is bringing the royal family into the animation catalog. The streaming platform has commissioned a straight-to-order comedy animation series from Gary Janetti titled ‘The Prince’.
The developing series will be based on Gary’s popular Instagram satire account which is a send-up of the British family. Events that will take place in the series will be told through the lens of young Prince George. The series will center on young Prince George finding his path in the present age, starting from his stay at the Buckingham palace all through to his school life with commoners.
Gary will voice George, while the remaining royals will be voiced by cast members Orlando Bloom (Prince Harry), Condola Rashad (Meghan Markle), Lucy Punch (Kate Middleton), Tom Hollander (Prince Philip and Prince Charles), Alan Cumming (George’s Butler, Owen) and Frances De La Tour (Queen Elizabeth) and Iwan Rheon (Prince Williams).
‘We’re so excited to bring the world Gary’s created on Instagram over to HBO Max, where our viewers can discover what his Instagram fans already know that George can be hilarious, shocking and surprisingly sweet. We can’t wait to see what Gary does with a bigger canvas to paint on than just a 1:1 square,” head of originals at HBO Max, Sarah Aubrey disclosed.
“I’m thrilled to be working at HBO Max and bringing them yet another series about a family ruthlessly fighting for the throne,” Janetti commented. Janetti will write and executive produce the series.
HBO Max is set to launch May this year, with original contents underway together with contents from parent company WarnerMedia. Popular television shows such as ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Friends’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ will all be streamed on the platform.
