‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is making its come back with a musical adaptation without Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. The film will make its pre-Broadway debut at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre on July 14, 2020.
To-be-directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro, the stage part will tell the story of the fashion world of Manhattan, as exemplified in the relationship between the ambitious young writer Andy and her hard-to-please boss, magazine editor Miranda Priestly.
The developing show features music by Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub and a book by Paul Rudnick. Nadia DiGiallonardo will serve as musical supervisor, whiles casting will be made by Stephen Kopei. Casting date for the show is however not disclosed at the moment.
Speaking of the endorsed task to direct the musical version, Shapiro disclosed in a statement, “I am truly honored to be a part of this incredible project. Working with Shaina, Paul, and Sir Elton has already proven to be one of the great thrills of my career, and I look forward to bringing Lauren’s beloved world to the stage.”
Kevin McCollum and Rocket Entertainment are producing, with its presentation made ready by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical.
