All is set for Wesley Snipes debut performance in the ‘Coming 2 America’ franchise. He joins original cast members Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall for the developing sequel.
The 1988 original film was stationed around Prince Akeem (played by Murphy) as a spoiled prince from Zamunda, who arrives in Queens, New York. Disguised as a commoner in the city, Akeem tries to find himself a bride. The developing sequel will follow Akeem’s return to America in order to find his long-lost son. Snipes will play a new character, General Iziz, a man who rules a neighboring nation.
December 18, 2020 has been eyed as release date for the sequel with productions beginning this fall. Craig Brewer, the director who directed both Snipes and Murphy on the film ‘Dolemite is My Name’ premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival next month is directing. Kevin Misher is producing via his Misher Films banner, alongside Kenya Barris and Murphy.
Snipes is best known for his 90s starred films ‘Blade’, ‘Demolition Man’ and ‘New Jack City’. He is repped by APA.
