Disney has no plans of going on retirement when it comes to remakes of popular television shows and films for theaters. In the wake of launching its streaming platform Disney +, the multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate is bringing back the Christmas sitcom ‘Home Alone’.
‘Home Alone’ was originally released on December 14, 1990 starring then kid actor Macaulay Culkin. The show amassed an audience rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and scored a total box office revenue of $476.7 million. The ‘Home Alone’ remake will come along with reimaginations of ‘A Night At the Museum’, ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ and ‘Cheaper By the Dozen’, Disney’s chief executive Bob Iger announced.
Disney secured re-production rights to all four franchise after it bought the film studio 20th century Fox this year. Production date to begin shooting and crew details plus cast lineup are yet-to-be-announced by the studio.
