It’s the end of an era between Paramount Pictures and Robert Evans. The company has ended its 45-year production deal with Evans and will no longer be in need of his services.
Evans’ work at Paramount dates back to the late 60s and early 70s where he headed as president of productions before going on a production deal with the company in 1974, which has been renewed every year up until date that it has become tainted with a cancellation.
“Bob Evans has been an iconic part of the Paramount legacy for over half a century. His contributions to the studio and film industry have been innumerable. Today we mark the end of our formal relationship with Bob as a producer, but his legacy will endure in our studio and in our hearts. There aren’t words to express our gratitude and reverence for the man whose name is synonymous with this company and the magic of movies,” a spokesperson from Paramount disclosed to Variety.
Evans’ work at Paramount can be traced from his produced films ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ (1968), ‘The Godfather’ (1972), ‘Love Story’ (1970), ‘Harold and Maude’ (1971), ‘Serpico’ (1973) and ‘The Conversation’ (1974).
89 and still kicking, Evans is yet to release an official statement about his Paramount exit. He last produced in 2003 ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ which was distributed by Paramount.
