Post Malone has been named top artist at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, alongside eight other wins including top male artist and top Billboard 200 artist. The event was hosted by Kelly Clarkson and aired live on NBC from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
2020 Grammy winners, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Lil Nas X, also walked home as winners of major categories. Eilish was feted with the top female artist, top new artist and top Billboard 200 album award for ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ Lizzo also won top song sales artist, while Lil Nas won four at the song awards category namely; top hot 100 song, top streaming song, top selling song and top rap song, all for ‘Old Town Road’ featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.
Kanye West was a big winner in the Gospel and Christian song awards lineup. The renowned hip/hop rapper now turned a gospel rap mainstream artist picked up four awards at the end of the night. He was named top gospel artist and also won top Christian album, top gospel album with ‘Jesus is King’ and top gospel song for ‘Follow God’.
Harry Styles won the Billboard chart achievement award, while BTS won top social artist, all voted for by the fans. Garth Brooks received the Icon Award presented by Cher.
The evening saw performances from John Legend ‘Never Break’, Sia ‘Courage to Change’, Alicia Keys ‘Love Looks Better’, Combs ‘Better Together’, BTS ‘Dynamite’, Malone with ‘Circles’ and ‘Tommy Lee’ featuring Tyla Yaweh amongst others.
