The high profiles of Hollywood once again took to the Oscars red carpet donning in the very best of costumes designed by some of the world’s most renowned fashion houses.
While others championed the elegance of slit gowns and well-polished tuxedo suites, others like Natalie Portman made it a core objective to draw a fashion making protest against the snub of female directors in the best director category. Portman donned in a Dior Haute Couture ensemble with an embroidered cape that spelled out the last names of all not nominated female directors; Scafaria, Wang, Gerwig, Diop, Heller, Matsoukas, Har’el and Sciamma.
Still in the space of honoring the legacy of late NBA legend Kobe Bryant, last year’s Oscar winner for best adapted screenplay, Spike Lee paid tribute to Kobe with a custom Gucci suit with ’24’ patches on the lapels and back that referenced Bryant’s basketball jersey numbers. First timer at the Oscars, Billie Eilish ditched her lemon red carpet colors and rather settled for a white Chanel tweed suit. Timothee Chalamet came on board as an award presenter for the night wearing a casual bomber jacket, black boots and sleek trousers.
